The PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions will receive Vergil as DLC, but other than that, the rest of the new features like the gameplay changes, higher framerate, increased resolution, and, of course, ray-tracing will be exclusive to the consoles launching in November. This is something that a lot of high-end PCs could handle with ease, but Capcom has made it clear that the Special Edition won’t be available for any platforms outside of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The publisher released a short video this week highlighting how ray-tracing will make light sources and reflections more dynamic than what’s possible on current-gen systems. More and more, the technology is becoming a key aspect of pushing video game graphics into the future, and Capcom hasn’t been shy showing how it will enhance DMC 5’s visuals in the Special Edition. Like the name suggests, ray-tracing uses rays to dynamically calculate how light interacts with different objects in a 3D space. The game will even come with ray-tracing support to give the game a next-gen sheen, but it turns out that this feature won’t be available on PC.
On top of finally making Vergil playable in DMC 5, it will introduce next-gen features like a Turbo Mode that speeds up the gameplay and a new difficulty option that increases the number of enemies on screen. Fans have been getting excited over the new content Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition will be bringing in a few short weeks.
